Agency Announcements

Brand Granse reported that the Regional Planning Commission has hired a new Executive Director, Cameron Moore. John Dimit has officially retired.

Old Business

Child and Family Connections #16 Report – No report was presented. However, Melissa Dempsey reported that CFC is in need of speech therapists who can provide early intervention services.

Touch A Truck Day will be held on May 21 st and June 7 th at Centennial Park. Contact person is Katie Flint, Park District Event Coordinator. Her number is 217-398-2550.

New Business

Reviewed the Head Start Special Quest video on Transition. Council members felt that it was geared too much towards Head Start families, and that the council should create its own video tailored to our own community.

The council needs to outline eligibility criteria for the different early childhood programs and identify the process of transitioning from early intervention and early childhood. Felicia Gooler stated that the council needs to utilize the Early Intervention Transition Folder. Council members requested CFC bring in the Transition Folder to the next meeting. Parents need to provide feedback on what was useful and what would be helpful during the transition process.

The school’s perspective is very important to the creation of the transition video. The council expressed the need for the Early Childhood partners to attend the next council meeting. Brandi Granse agreed to send out a reminder.

Amy Santos volunteered to speak with the U of I students about helping the council with editing the DVD. Felicia Gooler volunteered to identify parents who would be willing to participate in the making of the video.

Next steps for the council:

Identify parents, early intervention and early childhood partners
Identify questions and tips for transitioning
Obtain releases for picture use for the DVD

Next Meeting

Next meeting will be held on December 13, 2007 at 11:45.
