Agency Announcements

MaryAnne Wilson informed the council of an upcoming grant writing opportunity through East Central Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children.

Becci Cline and Felicia Gooler expressed interest in writing to be funded for our efforts in Public Awareness through advertisements.

Cheri Adams from Child Care Resource Service said their agency is busy reviewing grant proposals for their yearly grant opportunities.

Old Business

Minutes from October were approved.

Becci Cline reported for Child and Family Connections. She distributed statistics for Champaign County. She reported that there were 26 referrals in the month of October. She distributed an updated Child and Family Connections contact list. Becci also informed the council about the following upcoming events: Teaming for Trauma workshop on November 29, 2006, a reception for Dr. Morton and a seminar entitled working with Families in EI on December 8, 2006.

Hollie Ronk presented the final budget for 2006-2007. The council approved. MaryAnne Wilson moved to approve and Brandi Granse seconded the motion.

The council discussed how and what we will do to accomplish our goal of screening a greater percentage of children in Champaign County. The following ideas were discussed:

How can we make screening available to more children and families
What populations are we not currently reaching
How can we get home day care providers more involved
Compose a letter to Family Child Care Providers giving them referral information
We will invite members from the local directors group to attend our next meeting

New Business:

The council will dedicate December’s meeting to planning for January’s informational meeting in which multiple providers will be invited.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for December 21, 2006 from 8:45-9:45 at Mental Health Center of Champaign County at 1801 Fox Dr. in Champaign.
