Agency Announcements

Julie Grygiel talked about an upcoming change at Provena Hospital regarding newborn hearing screenings and follow up. Provena has decided to not renew its contract with Christie Foundation for the administration of newborn hearing screenings and follow up. Provena will now administer the screening themselves, as it is required by law, however they will not provide the follow up that Christie has done in the past. Julie asked that we support her in discouraging this change because this will cause the Hearing Education program to be at risk of dissipation.

Marilee Wright spoke on behalf of Liz Glassgow asking for a letter of support to be written to support the Mental Health Center in their effort to receive a grant to support their children’s mental health initiative.

Marilee also said they are looking for community members that work with children and families that are between birth and 6 to participate on a reflective peer group that discusses mental health issues within this targeted range.
