Agency Announcements

Becci Cline reported for CFC. She reported there were 21 referrals for the month of March and the average age at referral in Champaign County is 607 days old. This age reflects that Champaign County is referring children at an older age than the statewide average. The Council should explore some ways of identifying children at an earlier age. Becci also distributed flyers for upcoming training events sponsored by CFC.

Becci also requested that the council spend their budgeted money as soon as possible. All money for this year must be spent by 6/30/06.

Old Business

Minutes from March were approved. MaryAnne Wilson motioned for approval; Amy Kuka seconded.

Becci Cline reported for the Child Find Committee. They would like to have a luncheon with the head Pediatric nurses in Champaign County to distribute “Early Intervention Referral Desk References” on referral of children for Early Intervention services. The committee is requesting funds to support the luncheon. The council discussed using money from different line items in addition to the money in Child Find’s budget. MaryAnne Wilson motioned to spend up to $600.00. Carol Carlton seconded the motion. We will use money from Public Awareness and Provider Recruitment as needed.

The binders are completed and ready for distribution. Suggestions for updates will be taken into consideration for next year.

Grant Writing Workshop: Mary Anne Wilson said that The Human Service Council would be interested in co-sponsoring an event with a presenter. Angela Reinhart will investigate a presenter and get an estimated cost for the two Councils to split. We will try to schedule the workshop for the upcoming fall (e.g., October) on a weekday morning.

New Business:

The Council decided to come up with a central storage space that would be accessible to everyone. Felicia Gooler will see about the availability of space at DSC.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for May 18, 2006 from 8:45-9:45 at Mental Health Center of Champaign County at 1801 Fox Dr. in Champaign.
