Agency Announcements

  • Mary Anne Wilson announced that United Way’s Success by Six program is working on a kindergarten readiness calendar. It should be complete by mid July. A grant resource directory is also in progress. Special Education students are completing both projects.

  • Amy Santos announced that the community based grant that she applied for was funded. She needs six community agencies to accept students to work for them on projects at their discretion. She has four already and is in need of two more.

  • Carla Oldham announced that she is moving, but PROUDD will continue. PROUDD is committed to doing 6 seminars a year. PROUDD will also sponsor various activities to get children and families out into the community. This will be called PROUDD Happenings.

Old Business

Approval of minutes from April was tabled until the next meeting because several people had not had a chance to review them or could not locate them on the web site. LIC Coordinator will bring copies to upcoming meetings.

Becci Cline reported for Child and Family Connections.

  • 20 referrals were reported for the month of April.

  • CFC is in the process of hiring a social/emotional educator.

  • CFC has hired the 11th service coordinator because numbers continue to go up.

New Business

The council discussed nominations for co-chairs for the upcoming year. Mary-alayne Hughes has agreed to be nominated for the professional co-chair, but there is no one for the parent co-chair position. The council will be recruiting for that.

The council discussed the recent published stiudy on pre-school expulsion rate. The council believes it is because of a lack of understanding of social/emotional needs. Carla Oldham will look into providing a seminar addressing social/emotional need in pre-school children.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for June 16th from 8:30-9:45 at Mental Health Center of Champaign County at 1801 Fox Dr.
