Cheri Adams (CCRS), Carol Carlton (CCRS), Mark Driscoll (Champaign County Mental Health), Katie Good (Spectrum Early Childhood), Karin Green (Crisis Nursery), Mary-alayne Hughes (University of Illinois), Amy Kuka (Swann School), Jeanne Murray (Carle), Ruth Myers- Dunnum (Washington Early Childhood), Janelle Jaskula (CFC),Denise Novak (DSCC), Amy Santos (University of Illinois), Mary Anne Wilson (United Way), Sarajane Annin (DSC), Hollie Ronk (LIC Coordinator), Deanna Williams (Mental Health of Champaign Co.) Agency Announcements

  • Amy Santos distributed the Sharing A Vision Conference 2005 brochure and pointed out its new location. She also asked the council to support an initiative to reduce toxins in the environment headed up by a colleague at the University. They would like the Council to write a letter of support. Mark Driscoll motioned to write the letter. Mary Anne Wilson seconded the motion. More information will be sent out through list serve.
  • Mary Anne Wilson announced that the Special Education students she was sponsoring made a special addition of the ECIAEYC Newsletter, which was distributed.
  • Carol Carlton announced an upcoming training on assessment using the ASQ.
  • Mary-alayne Hughes informed the council of a training opportunity provided by the University if Illinois called Preparing Relationship-based Early Intervention Personnel (PREP).

Old Business

Council reviewed minutes. Minutes were approved as presented.

Deb Blasbaugh brought reports for Child and Family Connections.

  • 22 referrals were reported for the month of March.
  • Champaign County referral/screening results were distributed.
  • Champaign County Child Find report was also distributed.

The Child Find & Transition Committee reported that they still have not received all the agency information that they need to complete the binders.

The Public Awareness Committee would like the council to purchase magnets with the Birth to 5 logo and web address on them. Cost pamphlets were distributed. Mary Anne Wilson motioned to spend $300.00 on the magnets, Jeanne Murray seconded the motion. Motion carried.

The Provider Recruitment Committee reported on the seminar held on April 5, 2005. The seminar was very successful, about 28 people came. Thank-you letters with gift certificates were sent out to the panelist. The council decided they would like to do this again next year, possibly in the evening.

The Training Plan Committee planned a training on Augmentative devices for today's meeting.

New Business

Sarah Wilds from Carle Therapy Services presented on Augmentative Devices.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for May 19th from 8:30-9:45 at Mental Health Center of Champaign County at 1801 Fox Dr.
